Program Gives European Businesses a Clear Path to True EU Sovereignty and Regulatory Compliance Without Compromising Cybersecurity

Bitdefender, a European-based company and a global cybersecurity leader, announced the launch of its Sovereign Acceleration Program. The program empowers European organizations to transition to a fully European cybersecurity and data hosting solution that ensures customer and configuration data, security events, telemetry, and information gathered for customer support are never accessible, transferred, or processed outside the European Union (EU). To accelerate adoption, the program includes a commercial contract buyout and additional incentives for qualified organizations looking to migrate from non-EU cybersecurity providers.

The Bitdefender Sovereign Acceleration Program gives European organizations a clear, practical framework for cybersecurity that is both effective and sovereign.

As geopolitical uncertainty and evolving compliance requirements increase scrutiny of cross-border data flows, European businesses are reassessing their cybersecurity supply chains. The vast majority of organizations now prioritize digital and AI sovereignty. According to an IDC QuickPoll conducted in February 2026, 44% of respondents rated digital and AI sovereignty as “very important,” and another 41% rated it as “extremely important.”1

Most data sovereignty claims, however, fall short. Many vendors point to EU data center presence as proof of compliance while their platforms remain subject to non-EU legal jurisdiction, with ownership, supply chains, and operational control outside European hands, a practice increasingly referred to as “sovereignty washing.” For organizations operating under GDPR, NIS2, or DORA, the distinction matters significantly.

The Bitdefender Sovereign Acceleration Program closes this gap by combining Bitdefender’s advanced cybersecurity capabilities with sovereign European cloud infrastructure. Bitdefender GravityZone, the company’s unified security, risk analytics, and compliance platform, delivers advanced endpoint protection (EPP), endpoint detection and response (EDR), extended detection and response (XDR), and cloud-native security across the entire attack chain. GravityZone consistently leads independent cybersecurity evaluations, including AV-TEST and AV-Comparatives, giving security teams confidence that sovereign cybersecurity does not mean compromising on effectiveness.

The program also includes Bitdefender Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services, providing organizations with continuous, expert-led threat monitoring and remediation delivered entirely within EU boundaries. Sovereign MDR services, available later this summer, combine AI-augmented detection and containment with human judgment and validation to deliver 24x7x365 protection while reducing the burden on internal security teams.

Key Benefits of the Bitdefender Sovereign Acceleration Program:

  • A Clear Path to True Sovereign Cybersecurity — The program provides organizations with a trusted European alternative to non-EU cybersecurity providers. Through a network of certified European cloud partnerships, businesses can quickly transition to a full-stack cybersecurity ecosystem delivering enterprise-grade prevention, detection, and response with expert-led security operations where security data, telemetry, and operational workflows remain entirely under EU jurisdiction while maintaining business continuity.
  • Built for EU Compliance Requirements — Designed for EU organizations of all sizes operating under strict data residency or sovereignty mandates, including those in the public sector, financial services, healthcare, education, critical infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing. It supports compliance with GDPR, NIS2, DORA, and a range of in-country and sector-specific regulations.
  • Easy Migration with Commercial Incentives — Bitdefender offers qualified organizations a contract buyout program that removes financial barriers and streamlines the path to a fully sovereign cybersecurity solution. The company guides organizations through each step of the migration, ensuring a swift, confident move with minimal disruption to operations.

“Not all data sovereignty claims are equal. Most cybersecurity vendors rely on EU data center presence alone while leaving jurisdiction, operational control, and supply chain outside European hands,” said Andrei Florescu, president and general manager of Bitdefender Business Solutions Group. “The Bitdefender Sovereign Acceleration Program gives European organizations a clear, practical framework for cybersecurity that is both effective and sovereign, where the data, the infrastructure, the cybersecurity platform, and the expertise all remain within EU control, and where compliance and proactive risk management are built in, not bolted on.”

“True sovereignty requires secure infrastructure, proven cybersecurity, and confidence that critical technologies, data, and operations remain governed by European legal frameworks,” said Julien Levrard, CISO, OVHcloud. “By combining OVHcloud’s sovereign cloud infrastructure with Bitdefender’s technology and cybersecurity expertise, we help organizations across Europe strengthen cyber resilience while maintaining greater control over their data, operations, and digital future.”
