Bynario Raises Funding After AI-Powered Research Uncovered Critical Apple Vulnerabilities

The Milan cybersecurity startup is building an AI-powered platform to identify, validate, prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities from code to cloud.

The research, reported by the Financial Times in August, demonstrated the rapidly growing capabilities of AI-assisted vulnerability research and the challenge enterprises now face in understanding, prioritizing and remediating vulnerabilities at the same speed.

The round was led by 360 Capital Partners, with participation from PranaVentures. The funding will accelerate development of Bynario’s AI-powered security platform, expand its engineering team, and support growing demand from enterprises seeking to secure increasingly complex software environments.

The announcement comes as AI begins to reshape both sides of cybersecurity. Attackers and security researchers can increasingly use frontier models to identify and exploit vulnerabilities at a speed and scale that was previously impossible, while defenders remain heavily reliant on manual investigation, validation and remediation.

As AI continues to reduce the cost of vulnerability research and exploitation, more exploitable vulnerabilities become attractive targets. The challenge for defenders is only becoming more acute.”

Bynario has already demonstrated how quickly those dynamics are changing. In August, the company’s researchers used frontier AI models as part of an offensive security research programme that uncovered serious vulnerabilities in Apple’s macOS Screen Sharing technology.

The research, which was reported by the Financial Times, showed how AI-assisted security research can dramatically accelerate the process of finding and exploiting previously unknown software vulnerabilities. The findings were disclosed to Apple, which subsequently issued fixes for the affected vulnerabilities.

Industry analysts estimate that the volume of software vulnerabilities continues to grow year-on-year, while the global cybersecurity skills shortage leaves many unable to keep pace.
