Hurricane Electric Adds Additional High Speed IP Transit in Davenport, Iowa With New Point of Presence at SFN IA-Davenport Data Center

New Point of Presence in Davenport will provide additional high-speed IP transit options for ISPs and enterprises throughout Eastern Iowa

Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone announced that it has deployed a new Point of Presence (PoP) at SFN IA-Davenport, operated by South Front Networks. The new PoP is located at 2814 North Clark St., Davenport IA 52804, United States.

SFN builds and operates regional carrier neutral fiber optic networks in Minnesota and Iowa. This data center is strategically located to provide reliable service to customers in and around this Iowa economic center. This PoP is Hurricane Electric’s first location in Iowa. It will provide enterprises in Scott County with improved fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion management in the delivery of next generation IP connectivity services.

As the largest of the Quad Cities, Davenport is flourishing with business. It is home to a large number of manufacturing companies, along with many established IT companies. Davenport is among the many cities in the Midwest that are recognizing the cash crop that is tech. Local industry leaders are working to drive a technology revolution. For example, companies like Deere & Co — the largest one in Davenport — are beginning to utilize innovative technological practices such as IoT to drive ‘Smart Farming.’

Customers of SFN IA and those in and around Davenport now have a variety of new connectivity options and access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports. Additionally, customers at the facility are able to exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s vast global network, which offers over 20,000 BGP sessions with more than 9,000 different networks via more than 250 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.
