Athena Agentic Acquires Maxxsure, Adding Cyber Risk Quantification to Its Unified Cyber Operations Platform

Strategic acquisition brings the industry-leading M-Scoreโ„ข cyber risk platform under the Athena Agentic umbrella, extending the Athena Unified Cyber Operations Platform to include a complete GRC module.

Athena Agentic announced the acquisition of Maxxsure, a pioneer in cyber risk quantification and cyber insurance analytics. The transaction brings Maxxsure’s proprietary M-Scoreโ„ข platform which identifies, measures, and scores organizational cyber risk in financial terms understood by executive teams into Athena Agentic’s growing portfolio of agentic security companies, anchored by the Athena Unified Cyber Operations Platform.

Founded in 2016, Maxxsure has built one of the most defensible and individualized risk quantification engines in the industry. Unlike approaches that rely on generic third-party benchmarks, Maxxsure calculates risk from an organization’s own internal operations, external exposure, and third-party vendor landscape, producing risk scores that are specific, actionable, and directly tied to potential financial loss. The platform has earned adoption across the financial services, healthcare, gaming, and government sectors.

“Maxxsure does something most security vendors never attempt: it puts cyber risk in a language that CEOs, CFOs, and boards of directors actually act on. That capability is foundational to everything we are building at Athena Agentic.”

The acquisition positions Athena Agentic at the intersection of two of cybersecurity’s most urgent conversations: autonomous threat response and quantifiable risk management. As adversary breakout times shrink to seconds and the average cost of a data breach surpasses $4.44 million, the ability to both operate at machine speed and communicate risk in financial terms has become a board-level imperative.

Maxxsure’s M-Scoreโ„ข technology will be reimagined and integrated across the Athena Unified Cyber Operations Platform, enabling customers to move from reactive breach response to proactive, executive-aligned risk governance. Existing Maxxsure customers will continue to receive full product support and will gain access to enhanced capabilities as integration work progresses.

“Joining Athena Agentic opens a new chapter for Maxxsure. We have always believed that understanding your financial exposure to cyber risk is the precondition for every smart security investment. Now we have the platform and the partners to bring that belief to enterprise scale.”
