This deal will further extend the Google Cloud services offered by Telefónica Tech to the B2B segment, extend cloud adoption within the operations of Telefónica itself, and further deepen the collaboration in new and innovative areas like AI and GenAI

Internal Advancements and Strategic Collaborations

Telefónica uses Google Cloud technologies through its “Go to Cloud” program to digitize its processes. As a result, Telefónica considerably improved its IT operations, significantly reducing the time for application deployment and infrastructure optimization. The powerful collaboration between Telefónica and Google Cloud made this collaboration worth continuing, and Telefónica recently extended the agreement with Google Cloud by three years. The extended agreement included new collaborations on artificial intelligence, data services, hosting network functions in the telco cloud, and enhancing network operations through automation.

In addition, Telefónica Tech has already become more competent in enhancing the capabilities of the Digital Transformation division of the company. Telefónica Tech added five specializations in Google Cloud: Workspace for Enterprise, Infrastructure, Application Development, Data Analytics, and Cloud Migration. Besides, Telefónica Tech achieved Google Cloud’s status of Managed Service Provider, thus strengthening its expertise in guiding its clients through growth, increasing productivity, and innovating using Google Cloud technology.

The group is building next-generation digital products and services, leveraging strategic enablers from Google Cloud. Telefónica will undertake innovation work with Google Cloud on AI, generative AI, MLOps, and accelerated computing infrastructure for AI, Web3, blockchain, quantum computing, and edge computing.

Furthermore, Google Cloud partners with Wayra, Telefónica’s corporate venture capital arm, to provide startups with technology to improve product development, optimize costs, and support market expansion initiatives.
