Atos and Duokey Bring Advanced Encryption Features to Microsoft Office 365 to Protect Customers’

Atos and DuoKey announce the launch of a joint encryption offering that allows companies using Office 365, and more specifically, its new Double Key Encryption feature, to protect their sensitive data from being accessed by Microsoft or any other external individual or organization. This new offering ensures that customers have complete control over the privacy and security of their data and meets a real need for sovereignty expressed by many organizations in the public, healthcare, and energy sectors.

Any Microsoft 365 document that is encrypted “by default” with a key managed by Microsoft can now be further encrypted with an additional new encryption key which isunder the exclusive control of the customer, and securely stored in Atos’ Trustway Proteccio Hardware Security Module (HSM). The document can only be viewed and accessed using both keys: the one from Microsoft and the one protected by Atos and Duokey. In this sense, protected data remains inaccessible from anyone – from any vendor (such as Microsoft), any cloud storage solution, as well as from Atos and DuoKey.

Atos’ Trustway Proteccio is the only HSM which holds enhanced qualification from the French cybersecurity agency (ANSSI), as well as NATO secret and EU restricted qualifications. Duokey’s native encryption solution has been designed specifically for Microsoft 365 and meets the highest security requirements. Their joint solution is fully integrated within Office 365 office suite.

“We wanted to address the need for optimum data control expressed by many of our customers, as Office 365 is used by most organizations. We are pleased to work with DuoKey to provide a cryptographic solution that ensures complete data sovereignty for our joint customers.” comments Cyril Dujardin, Global head of Digital Security, Atos.

The collaboration with the Atos Trustway team was very successful. Our teams worked together to natively integrate the DuoKey solution with Atos’ Trustway Proteccio HSM. Our solutions work perfectly together to provide clients the ability to secure, at a very granular level, their RSA 2048 key for Double Key Encryption within a certified HSM NATO Secret, EU Restricted, ANSSI QR.” said Nagib Aouini CEO, DuoKey.
