Halcyon, a leading platform designed from day one to defeat ransomware, today appointed former Barclays CISO Oliver Newbury as Chief Strategy Officer. “Oli has had a profound impact in just a few months as an advisor, growing Halcyon’s global footprint and enhancing our strategic vision for ransomware protection,” said Jon Miller, CEO & Co-founder, Halcyon. “As one of the most respected security leaders in the world, we are ecstatic that he’s elected to officially join the team as our Chief Strategy Officer.”

In addition to his new role at Halcyon, Newbury currently serves as a Strategic Advisor to TPG, a global alternative asset management firm; a Board Member of Immersive Labs, a cybersecurity platform; and GALLOS Technologies, a UK-based venture capital firm. Prior to these roles, Newbury was the Global Chief Information Security Officer for Barclays, a renowned multinational financial services company, and as Chief Technology Officer for BTs Security Division, where he led transformative cybersecurity initiatives. Newbury’s deep expertise in financial services and first hand knowledge of financial organization’s security pain points puts him in a position to expand Halcyon’s presence in this key vertical.

“Halcyon exceeded all my expectations over these past few months,” said Newbury. “As a Strategic Advisor, I witnessed firsthand the impact its leading anti-ransomware platform has on businesses. Halcyon is truly the only company equipped to defeat the persistent ransomware threat businesses face on a global scale. The future for Halcyon is bright and I am thrilled to be taking a full-time strategic leadership position for a company making a significant difference in the global fight against ransomware.”

Newbury’s appointment as the Chief Strategy Officer of Halcyon closely follows the company closing $100M in Series C funding at $1B valuation and the global expansion of the Halcyon Revolution Partner Program, further solidifying the company’s presence in the UK and Europe. Halcyon provides the industry’s first and only anti-ransomware platform. Leveraging AI/ML Models specifically trained on ransomware samples provides Halcyon’s customers with unmatched protection efficacy. Its platform gives organizations peace of mind that impacted devices will not be taken offline, data will be exfiltrated and their business operations will not be disrupted.
