HP Inc. has released its quarterly HP Wolf Security Threat Insights Report, revealing how cybercriminals exploit vulnerabilities like open redirects and utilize Living-off-the-Land (LotL) techniques to infiltrate systems. Notable findings from the report include:

  • ‘Cat-Phishing’ via Open Redirects: Advanced attackers used open redirect vulnerabilities to lead users to malicious sites, evading detection.
  • Living-off-the-BITS: Several campaigns leveraged the Windows BITS service to download malicious files stealthily.
  • HTML Smuggling Attacks: Threat actors concealed malware within HTML files disguised as delivery invoices, triggering the deployment of open-source malware.

The report underscores the diversification of attack methods, with 12% of email threats bypassing gateway scanners. Key findings also include the dominance of email attachments as threat vectors (53%) and the prevalence of exploit-reliant document threats (65%).

  • The servers are equipped with Smart Cooling technology, ensuring energy efficiency and adaptability to changing environments.
  • These servers also introduce the Data Center – Modular Hardware System (DC-MHS) architecture to the Dell PowerEdge portfolio, facilitating easier integration into existing infrastructure by standardizing servers and enhancing design and customer choice.

#10 Microsoft Introduces Proteus: Customizable Xbox Controller for Gamers with Disabilities

Microsoft has introduced Proteus, a new customizable Xbox controller tailored for gamers with physical disabilities. Developed by ByoWave under the Designed for Xbox program, Proteus is a wireless controller kit featuring ‘snap and play’ parts, allowing for over 100 million configurations and LED lighting variations.

Proteus is designed for one-hand usage and comprises small cubes housing buttons, a directional pad, and analog sticks. Gamers can personalize their experience by remapping these buttons using the companion app. The controller package includes a USB-C charging cable, a Bluetooth dongle, two large one-button peripherals, and left and right handles.

Compatible with Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Windows 10, and Windows 11, Proteus is not compatible with other consoles like Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. Currently available for pre-order on the ByoWave website at $255, Proteus will be priced at $299 upon release later this year, approximately Rs 25,000.
