Industry data shows software vulnerabilities increased more than 60% year over year, while exploited vulnerabilities nearly doubled—placing growing pressure on development teams to write secure code earlier in the lifecycle. At the same time, studies consistently report that a majority of organizations cite application security and secure development as among their most significant skills gaps, with many developers lacking formal hands-on security training.

CMD+CTRL Security’s new B2C offering is built on the same AppSec training platform trusted by enterprise customers to improve security outcomes at scale. The platform goes beyond theory to deliver practical, skills-focused learning designed to help developers produce more secure code. The offering includes nine curated learning journeys, focused on the most in-demand secure development and application security skills. Each track provides a structured path from foundational concepts to applied practice, helping learners build skills they can immediately use in production environments. Participants can earn badges and certificates aligned to their area of focus.

For experienced practitioners, CMD+CTRL will also offer an exam-only option, allowing confident AppSec professionals to validate their expertise through a rigorous skills assessment and earn a certificate without completing the full training curriculum. This option enables individuals to efficiently benchmark their skills and demonstrate competency to current or prospective employers.

Courses on the platform qualify for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits, making the training especially valuable for security professionals maintaining industry certifications. In addition, many learners can apply professional development or learning stipends to cover the cost of training, making enterprise-quality AppSec education more accessible outside of traditional employer-sponsored programs.

“Developers are increasingly responsible for security outcomes, yet many never receive hands-on training unless it’s provided by their employer,” said Colin Dempsey, Senior Director of Software Development at CMD+CTRL Security. “We’ve spent years helping enterprises embed secure development practices into real workflows. This new platform brings that same practical, skills-driven approach directly to individual developers and application security professionals who want to advance their careers.”
