Fiber Internet is Coming to Sugar Land from Kinetic

Kinetic announced plans for a multi-year initiative to bring fiber internet to more than 90% of homes and businesses in the Sugar Land area. The fiber investment will power broadband, voice, productivity and entertainment services with unparalleled speed and reliability.

“Having a reliable high-speed infrastructure is essential for Fort Bend County’s continued economic growth by attracting and helping to retain business in our community,” said Keri Schmidt of the Fort Bend Chamber. “High speed communications and internet services accessible to businesses and the general public are part of the equation in having a high quality of life and a healthy business environment.”

This investment gives residents and businesses in the area access to fast, reliable fiber to navigate the internet safely from home with no lag times while they work, school or stream entertainment services. Businesses ranging from small shops to large enterprises can take advantage of the fiber-backed network to deploy solutions that make their companies more efficient and profitable such as OfficeSuite UC® and SD-WAN.

Engineering for the project is ongoing, and Kinetic is staffing up construction crews to begin the work later this year. Sugar Land area residents will see crews working on fiber roll out in their areas in the coming months.

Currently, approximately 15 percent of Sugar Land is eligible for 1 gigabit speeds provided by fiber. By the end of 2024, Kinetic will deploy fiber to more than 70,000 new locations, giving more than 90 percent of the Sugar Land area access to fiber.

Kinetic is embarking on a $2 billion, multi-year construction initiative to dramatically expand gigabit internet service deploying fiber across its 18-state footprint. The company is proud to name the Sugar Land community as one of the first markets in Texas for this premium investment.
