Aerospace industry expert joins optical wireless communication leader to accelerate company growth

BridgeComm, Inc., a leader in optical wireless communications (OWC) solutions and ­services, is pleased to announce that Thomas Romano has been named as Vice President of Engineering. With more than 24 years of experience in the aerospace industry and business management, he will help accelerate BridgeComm’s growth in business development and project management.

“Thomas brings invaluable experience to BridgeComm’s team,” says BridgeComm CEO Barry Matsumori. “His wealth of expertise in analyzing and solving complex problems both, technical and business, will pay dividends and we couldn’t be more excited to have him join our team.”

Prior to joining BridgeComm, Romano was the Director of Space Systems Engineering at General Atomics, where he developed and led the Space Systems Engineering business department for GA-EMS. In this role, he was responsible for staff resource planning, talent acquisition, onboarding and training, in which he increased qualified and space experienced staff by over 250% in 18 months. In addition, he oversaw the technical oversight and review of engineering content for proposals, culminating in the award of two new contracts that totaled over $165M.

As a dedicated mentor and coach to employees, Romano holds a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering with an emphasis on Orbital Mechanics and Spacecraft Systems Design from San Jose State University.
