Printess: Next Level Browser Editor with a Cost-per-Order Model
Printess is a new, modular cloud platform that integrates perfectly with existing platforms for e-commerce, print automation and mass customization. The goal of this start-up was to create something new, and the founders have succeeded: Printess is the fastest and most versatile browser editor that delivers 100% ISO-compliant output.
A specialized editor and backend technology for online shops, which is also easy to use on mobile devices, enables the sale of personalized products. In the process, many new standards were set: In terms of technology, creative possibilities, and costs.

The founders Christoph Clermont, Bastian Kröger and Christoph Schacht each have more than 20 years of experience in the industry. Therefore, they knew exactly what was important and what the previous browser editors lacked.

Printess shifts complex processes to the browser. However, since browser editors have some disadvantages, for example in speed, graphical functions and typography, the founders have taken care of exactly these problems and solved them. Printess is the first provider to offer a browser-independent engine for typography, filters and vector rendering. Thanks to the latest web technology, expensive server-side rendering can be avoided. At the same time, this means unprecedented speed when using browser editors. And last but not least, customers can s********* 80% of their server costs.

Customizable products quickly become complex. Printess nevertheless enables simple configuration without programming by the customer. The designs also adapt automatically to any size, making countless variations of the same design possible with just one template. This also convinces graphic designers, as they can not only work faster, but also more easily and more effectively. The buying process is also not a problem on mobile devices: since more than 50% of all e-commerce purchases are made on mobile, the platform’s usability on any device is paramount.

Another focus is on the quality of the print data. Printess uses the same render code for processing and output to ensure that there are no differences between design and final product. 100% ISO-compliant output, fast ripping, CMYK and spot colours, embedded image profiles, high-quality downsampling, font embedding and subsampling, and bleed management are among the quality features of Printess. The output of personalized documents in pixel dimensions for digital formats on websites and social media platforms are also part of the service spectrum. Thanks to automatic scaling of the cloud services, customers are prepared for any onslaught: whether 20 or 2 million users visit the website or order products, user-friendliness is guaranteed at all times.

Printess works entirely without the purchase of software or licences. There are no upfront costs or maintenance fees for the customer. Even after implementation, he takes on no risk, because with the cost-per-order model, only those who generate sales will pay. The Printess founders are therefore only successful if their customers are successful too. This approach only goes to show how convinced they are of their product.
