Vikram Nair, President of EMEA Business at Tech Mahindra , said: “We are working actively with Telefónica on this project. We made an important contribution to the integration results and made great efforts to continuously expand our capabilities. This reflects our commitment to investing in open source technologies and scaling networks within a few weeks. Telefónica is able to accelerate its digital transformation efforts in order to offer its customers a more efficient and future-proof service. “

Telefónica was able to integrate 30,000 radio links from various providers into the OpenDaylight Controller with the ONF TR-532 interface standard. This also reflects Tech Mahindra’s ambition to invest in open source technologies to accelerate the scaling of networks. By switching to SDN, Telefónica will be able to take over automation functions more easily in the future.

“Together with our partners such as Tech Mahindra, we are doing pioneering work at SDN in the microwave field. The technological requirements for the cellular network of the future are constantly increasing. Software-based approaches such as SDN help us to reduce the complexity of our network architectures and to advance our network expansion even faster and with higher quality thanks to a higher degree of automation. For example, our Telefónica technology team is already continuously developing new applications that can be made available to all manufacturers within a few weeks, ” said Mallik Rao, Chief Technology & Information Officer of Telefónica Germany
