“Security is one of the biggest concerns for our customers when it comes to data integration, or for anything related to data, and for obvious reasons.”
Hi, Logan. Welcome to our Interview Series. Please tell us a little bit about your journey in this industry and what inspired you to be part of Fivetran?
I joined Fivetran as our second sales representative. While my background was in partnership and alliances, I saw the immense opportunity to build a partner-led sales strategy into the sales DNA at Fivetran. You can’t buy Fivetran by itself, so we should never sell it by itself. Until I started at Fivetran, I didn’t truly understand how important Fivetran was to the data space. Within days I saw the strong product-market fit Fivetran had and realized we had an opportunity to become the standard in data movement – we just had to execute. So I took the leap into the data space selling Fivetran, and I worked with a partner on every deal, and within a year I was able to carve out a role focusing on partners.
What is the crux of your partnership with Microsoft Azure? How do you help customers get more out of the Azure suite?
Fivetran is a Microsoft Managed ISV and Microsoft Intelligent Data Platform ecosystem launch partner. We co-sell with Microsoft’s global sales teams to help Microsoft customers easily centralize data and accelerate their data movement to data destinations in Microsoft Azure.

What has changed in the enterprise data industry in the last 3 years? How has Fivetran emerged as the go-to platform for data integration?
As enterprises have accelerated their digital transformation journeys over the past few years, data has become the foundational catalyst for this transformation. Data is no longer a “nice to have” – it is a critical driver of competitive differentiation and business success. The world’s top companies now run their business on data, so it must be always available, accurate and accessible to enable data-driven decisions across the organization. This is where Fivetran’s highly reliable managed service – with 99.9% uptime – stands alone and has continued to fuel our growth as the de facto data movement platform leader.
Please tell us more about your partnership ecosystem and how these initiatives centralize data operations across multiple workflows and architecture?
Fivetran’s integration accelerates data movement to Azure Synapse and other data destinations in Azure. Fivetran is the “easy button” for customers to centralize their data, enabling users across the organization to access and make data-driven decisions.

Please tell us the importance of having a strong compliance and data governance for data integration.
Security is one of the biggest concerns for our customers when it comes to data integration, or for anything related to data, and for obvious reasons. Every enterprise knows it must be data-driven, but traditional data governance has been a barrier with manual processes and reactive enforcement of policies. That’s not a scalable approach, especially as data infrastructure grows to thousands of pipelines.
For this reason, Fivetran recently launched Metadata API, which allows our customers to get out-of-the-box data governance automations and data quality workflows so they can proactively identify and take action on governance issues before they become a problem.
Would you like to share a case study from Fivetran’s resources to highlight how data integration improved IT investments?
Fivetran helped enable digital transformation for a multinational health technology conglomerate that is a recognizable global brand. The change data capture solution of Fivetran and Azure Databricks unlocked operational supply chain data from multiple SAP ERP and factory systems to improve end-to-end manufacturing throughput and visibility. The customer was able to extract supply chain data with minimal impact on operational systems, and build real-time insights into their day-to-day operations across the globe.
Your take on the future of data science and AI in the cloud computing domain: A piece of advice to business leaders who are looking to invest in the cloud computing and AIOps in data integration:
I recommend finding those “no-code” solutions that manage and automate your cloud tasks, whether it’s in DevOps or data management.
