Veeam Builds Reliable Business Continuity And Disaster Recovery Strategy For Real Estate Giant Crye-Leike

Insight Partners Completes Acquisition Of Cloud Data Management Leader Veeam For A Value Of $5 Billion

Veeam Backs Up The Systems Supporting In-house Real Estate Services 75% Faster Than Legacy Backup And Recovers Them 99% Faster, While Maintaining Mandated Data Compliance Regulations

Veeam® Software, the leader in Backup solutions that deliver Cloud Data Management™,  announced that Crye-Leike Real Estate Services integrated Veeam Availability Suite™  to strengthen and improve its business continuity (BC) and disaster recovery (DR) strategy, helping to maintain a competitive edge within the industry. As part of the integration, Crye-Leike replaced its legacy backup system that was supporting its in-house real estate services with Veeam, resulting in 75% faster back up and 99% faster recovery. Veeam also supports data compliance regulations mandated by each state’s real estate commission.

Based in Memphis, Tenn., Crye-Leike Real Estate Services is a full-service real estate company with more than 3,200 sales associates, 800 employees, and 130 offices, averaging more than $6.5 billion each year in sales. Ranked in the nation’s top three real estate companies, Crye-Leike needs its company website – which displays property listings, photographs and information – available and accessible at all times in order to remain competitive. However Crye-Leike’s previous backup system, Arcserve, was slow and unreliable, meaning they were not able to backup data as often as they needed. Additionally, the recovery process was slow, sometimes taking hours. With the website serving as the customer’s first introduction, Crye-Leike needed a solution that would strengthen and improve its BC and DR strategy.

“As a full-service real estate company, we provide a wide range of in-house services for home buyers and sellers, however over the years, it became clear we didn’t have the right systems to ensure our data and information was always available,” said David Neely, Director of IT infrastructure, Crye-Leike. “Veeam was the natural fit, offering a fully integrated solution that was simple, fast and dependable. Veeam provides a level of visibility into our backup infrastructure that we never had before. If an issue arises, we’re able to resolve in minutes, rather than hours, with zero impact to our real estate services.”

“In our business, we are entrusted with protecting buyers’ and sellers’ data,” added Neely. “With Veeam’s backup success and recoverability reporting, we can ensure that our clients’ information is safe while also demonstrating compliance.”

The Veeam 2020 Data Protection Trends Report found that 51% of companies claimed loss of customer confidence as a result of system outages. By implementing the Veeam Availability Suite, Crye-Leike strengthened and improved its BC and DR strategy, helping the company maintain its competitive edge in the industry. Because Veeam integrates with ExaGrid and Nimble Storage, data deduplication doubled and backup speed increased by 75%, enabling Crye-Leike to back up more often and reduce the risk of data loss. Recovery time significantly increased for Crye-Leike as well as a result of two features –  Veeam ExplorerTM for Storage Snapshots and Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server – which recover items in minutes. With Veeam, Crye-Leike’s backup and recovery went from a slow and manual process to high-speed and automated one.

“More than ever, organizations like Crye-Leike are operating in multiple locations across the country and tasked with managing and protecting important data and resources that could be catastrophically impacted by a system outage,” said Paul Strelzick, general manager and senior vice president, Americas, at Veeam. “It’s critically important for us to provide an in-demand solution that not only supports business continuity and disaster recovery, but gives Crye-Leike the confidence necessary to feel protected and allows them to focus on driving success in their business.”

Looking ahead, Crye-Leike is considering additional features offered by Veeam such as Veeam Cloud Data Management. The company also plans to use Veeam’s monitoring and reporting more extensively for proactive issue resolution.
