Liftr Insights, known for its market intelligence powered by unique data, revealed that Azure’s growth in North America varies significantly by region.

Key Highlights:

  • Liftr tracks the six largest cloud providers, which cover over 75% of the public cloud market.
  • Microsoft Azure’s infrastructure is generally older compared to AWS in both East and West regions of North America.
  • In the East, 69% of infrastructure is older than three years for both Azure and AWS, but AWS has added 19% new infrastructure within the past year compared to Azure’s 12%.
  • In the West, 64% of AWS’s infrastructure is older than three years, while 76% of Azure’s is. AWS invested over 25% in newer instance types, whereas Azure invested only 7%.
  • Azure’s Central regions show more recent investments, with only 63% of older instance types and 26% added within the past year.
  • The data products Cloud Components TrackerSM and Intelligence Compute TrackerSM help analysts evaluate cloud providers and their infrastructure.
