– DXC cloud solution set to support an anticipated 34% increase in Renfe passenger numbers in 2022
– DXC becomes Renfe’s main IT partner
Renfe-LogiRAIL, the IT and logistics arm of Renfe Group, the national rail operator in Spain, has concluded with DXC Technology a Fortune 500 IT service provider, a $ 6 million contract to modernize its IT infrastructure and enable it to meet increased demand for its passenger and freight services as it returns to pre-pandemic levels.
DXC will help Renfe create a competence center for cloud technologies, which will allow the company to respond more quickly to increasing levels of passenger and cargo volumes. As Renfe projects an increase of nearly 120 million passengers and 1.5 million tonnes of freight in 2022, the rail operator is focused on modernizing its operations and driving growth for its services in Spain and around the world whole.

To support Renfe’s ambitions, DXC will help manage and modernize the company’s entire IT infrastructure using the latest cloud technologies. The project includes critical IT platforms, operating systems and databases, as well as hundreds of IT applications that will be easier to manage and deploy in a cloud environment. One of the first applications to be deployed in the cloud is a new operational dashboard that will provide Renfe management with real-time data to ensure passengers stay safe and goods arrive at their destination on time.
“Renfe has worked with DXC for over a decade and this new contract with LogiRAIL is a testament to our confidence in DXC’s capabilities and expertise,” said Oscar Gómez Barbero, Managing Director of LogiRAIL. “Together, we will promote and accelerate the modernization and digitization of the Renfe Group, and use the advantages of the cloud to bring many benefits to our customers.”
DXC and Renfe have had a strong collaboration for 12 years. The latest contract is part of a new partnership between DXC and Renfe LogiRAIL whereby DXC will become Renfe’s main IT partner.
“At DXC, we are delighted with the first phase of our collaboration with Renfe and to have the opportunity to help the Spanish rail operator achieve a successful cloud deployment,” said Juan Parra, Managing Director of DXC Technology, Spain and Portugal. “We have a deep understanding of critical IT systems and are committed to ensuring that Renfe’s operations run as smoothly as possible, in line with its growth ambitions.”
