Itential Announces Issuance of Two New US Patents for Its Network Integration, Automation, & Orchestration Technology

Itential, the leading cloud-based network automation and orchestration platform, announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued two patents related to aspects of its API integration, data federation, and transformation capabilities for hybrid multi-cloud network automation. Today’s news further solidifies Itential’s leadership in driving innovation for a more integrated, programmable, network-first automation ecosystem.

Today’s network automation teams face high costs and complexity when integrating across the wide array of device types, controllers, cloud resources, and external tools and systems that make up their networks.Per Cisco’s 2023 Global Networking Trends report, 92% of surveyed organizations use at least two cloud providers, and 69% use at least five external SaaS applications for core processes (and 25% use 20+).As network environments continue to become more distributed and complex, the number of external tools will only grow, positioning the “integration tax” as a significant threat to network automation success.

The Itential Automation Platform is built on a flexible, dynamic integration model for network automation.Itential provides out-of-the-box, no-cost integrations to all network and IT systems so network teams can easily build end-to-end automations across their entire network infrastructure. The technology described by Itential’s newly issued patents aim to eliminate the “integration tax” that limits organizations’ flexibility when making new technology decisions, providing organizations with the freedom to choose the right technology for their business.

US Patent No. 11,665,241 B1 – “Systems & Methods for Dynamic Federated API Generation” relates to aspects of Itential’s ability to generate a single, unified, real-time view of network and service components across diverse technologies. The 14 claims in this patent address the challenges of orchestrating network activities across diverse environments, common in modern networks where multiple technologies, including multi-cloud, SD-WAN, and SASE, operate alongside existing IP networks, data centers, and security systems.Itential’s API federation capabilities enable users to leverage a single aggregated API for the entire network, simplifying automation across multiple network technologies. This reduces the complexity and cost of introducing new network types, vendors, etc., alleviating the strain of deploying and operating multi-vendor, multi-domain networks.

US Patent No. 11,354,491 – “Systems & Methods for Improved Data Modeling & Translation” generally relates to Itential’s ability to simplify interactions between users, applications, and network systems by translating complex, product-specific data formats into a common, human-readable language.The 22 claims covered by this patent address one of the most significant challenges that automation and orchestration teams face today — the explosive growth of technology, vendor-specific data formats, and the complexity of navigating those formats to perform end-to-end orchestrations.

“These patents are critical building blocks of our current portfolio capabilities and future product roadmap,” said Chris Wade, Co-Founder and CTO of Itential.“Our vision is to transform network and infrastructure operations, and we are committed to driving innovation in support of a more integrated, programmable, infrastructure-first automation ecosystem. These patents represent an important milestone for Itential, as it advances our efforts in building a robust IP portfolio in support of our value proposition of delivering infrastructure automation at scale.”

The rapid, agile, and scalable power of Itential enables the world’s largest companies to use its automation and orchestration capabilities to deliver services faster, simplify network and infrastructure change management, and maintain security with standardized configuration and compliance across hybrid cloud networks.Itential provides its customers with the tools to simplify and accelerate their journey from manual IT processes to self-service automation, operationalizing infrastructure automation at scale, along with the freedom to integrate with different services, tools, and vendors in their infrastructure ecosystem.
