HaiLa Technologies Inc., an ultra low power RF solutions company that is developing ultra low power IoT communication solutions, announces that they have reached another important growth milestone with the appointment of Derek Kuhn as President & Chief Executive Officer.
Derek Kuhn is a high-tech executive with more than twenty years of international experience. He held senior executive roles with companies such as BlackBerry, QNX Software Systems and Alcatel-Lucent (now Nokia). He was President of Industrial IoT leader Sciemetric, and has also advised multiple startups on their growth strategies.
Board Chair, Greg Allen, commented: “Derek is a results-driven leader whose major strengths include product management, business planning and sales. His experience covers both software and hardware product leadership; both of which are key parts of HaiLa’s future roadmap. Derek thrives on growing great teams and bringing new products to market and we are excited for him to bring these skills to HaiLa and its customers.”

Derek’s immediate objectives will be focused on continuing development of HaiLa’s latest prototype Wi-Fi module, developing new customer relationships and continuing strategic hiring with a focus on design engineering and product marketing.

Derek most recently served as an advisor to the CTO of Panasonic Automotive, an advisor to the CEO and Founder of machine learning and AI data analytics tools startup Acerta and as an advisor to embedded software solutions company Arcane Four. He was a “40 under Forty” award winner and is a registered Professional Engineer. Derek holds an Engineering degree from Carleton University in Ottawa
