Sumsub, a trust infrastructure platform serving over 4,000 clients across financial services, crypto, trading, and iGaming, has selected IPinfo as its primary source of IP geolocation and VPN detection. IPinfo’s data is embedded directly into Sumsub’s platform, supporting KYC and fraud prevention checks for customers who may have to defend their decisions to auditors and regulators.

IPinfo delivers the higher country-level accuracy and fewer of the large location errors that matter most in fraud and compliance decisions.
For fintech and verification companies, IP intelligence is moving beyond a background enrichment signal to become part of the infrastructure behind critical decisions. Sumsub’s adoption of IPinfo demonstrates that as these platforms adapt to growing complexity, they are looking beyond basic IP signals toward data that is not only accurate, but measurable, explainable, and supported by evidence.
When customers questioned why individual IP addresses had been flagged as risky, Sumsub needed clear evidence to support their classifications. Its previous provider could not provide that evidence, putting trust in the wider platform at risk. Sumsub needed IP intelligence it could confidently stand up to scrutiny.
“Our customers rely on the signals we provide to make decisions they may ultimately have to defend to their auditors,” said Sumsub’s co-founder and CTO Vyacheslav Zholudev. “So we have to be able to substantiate every signal we pass on. That is the standard we hold our data providers to. That data informs decisions long after onboarding, so it has to hold up every time. Accuracy is easy to claim and hard to prove.”
Measuring against Sumsub’s known traffic, IPinfo delivers the higher country-level accuracy and fewer of the large location errors that matter most in fraud and compliance decisions. IPinfo correctly identified the country for 98.77% of the IP addresses tested, placed half of all results within 20 km of the corresponding GPS position, and put fewer than 6% more than 500 km away.
As IP intelligence becomes more deeply embedded in verification platforms, the expectations placed on the underlying data are becoming more rigorous.
“When verification platforms build third-party data into their products, the quality of that data directly affects their reputations,” said IPinfo Founder & Co-CEO Ben Dowling. “Providing the evidence behind our data has always been foundational to IPinfo, from how we measure the internet to how we investigate and substantiate an individual result when it’s challenged.”
Beyond geolocation, IPinfo provides data on location precision, anonymization and hosting infrastructure, and the network behind an IP address. Together, these signals give Sumsub a more complete view of an IP address, adding context its customers can use to make and defend decisions at every stage, from onboarding to continuous monitoring.
