New PoPs in Ashburn, Dallas, and Salt Lake City put Datum’s neutral, programmable network layer in three of North America’s key AI interconnection markets
DataBank, a leading provider of enterprise-class edge colocation, interconnection, and managed services, announced today that Datum, the open network cloud for AI, has added network points of presence (PoPs) inside DataBank facilities in Ashburn, Dallas, and Salt Lake City. The deployment brings Datum’s open source network cloud to key interconnection-dense markets where AI companies, hyperscalers, and enterprises increasingly need to connect.

The partnership builds on a relationship between the two companies’ leadership that spans nearly 20 years. “I first worked with Zac in 2009, when I joined as CEO of Voxel, the Linux computing startup he was an early leader at,” said Raul Martynek, CEO of DataBank. “In today’s complex infrastructure environment, relationships that are built over many years and cycles can make all the difference. We’re excited to host Datum’s network inside some of our most strategic facilities during this critical build out of AI ecosystems.”

With these three new PoPs, Datum’s customers can now better connect across clouds and providers while applying consistent routing, policy, and observability from a single control plane — capabilities that have traditionally required large networking teams and direct relationships across the internet ecosystem.
The markets were chosen for their value to the AI ecosystem: Ashburn as the largest interconnection hub in North America, Dallas as a growing central-U.S. exchange point, and Salt Lake City for its proximity to US-West neocloud and public cloud regions.
