Live demonstration from a waterborne jet ski shows how Bigleaf Network Optimization integrates Starlink and 5G to maintain application connectivity
Bigleaf Networks, a leader in network optimization and wireless-first connectivity, announced plans to demonstrate enterprise connectivity from a waterborne jet ski using Starlink, 5G, and the Bigleaf Network Optimization platform. The live demonstration will put alternative WAN connectivity to the test in an intentionally unpredictable environment, showing how Starlink and 5G can work together with Bigleaf to support business-critical applications as network conditions change in real time.

Using Starlink and 5G connectivity with the Bigleaf BLR Edge 800W router, the demonstration will show how Bigleaf continuously monitors network conditions and dynamically steers application traffic across available connections. Participants will also get a behind-the-scenes look at how the environment was designed, configured, and monitored.
“Anyone can show connectivity working in a controlled environment. We wanted to see what happens when you take away the control,” said David McGiffin, Sales Director at Bigleaf Networks. “By putting Starlink, 5G, and Bigleaf together on a waterborne jet ski, we can demonstrate how these technologies work together when conditions are constantly changing. That is much closer to the challenge businesses face in the real world.”
As satellite and cellular connectivity become increasingly viable components of enterprise WAN strategies, organizations need ways to manage these connections alongside traditional broadband without sacrificing application performance or visibility. The demonstration is particularly relevant for organizations operating in rural areas, construction sites, temporary locations, mobile environments, and other places where wired broadband may be unavailable or impractical.
