Jonathan Rende Joins Checkmarx as Chief Product Officer

Technology industry veteran brings decades of product management and engineering leadership

Checkmarxthe industry leader in cloud-native application security for the enterprise, has appointed technology industry veteran Jonathan Rende as its Chief Product Officer (CPO), effective immediately. With his extensive leadership experience and deep understanding of software product development, AI and machine learning, Rende is uniquely positioned to offer strong vision and direction as the company continues its journey of innovation in application security.

“Jonathan has the ideal experience to successfully craft and execute on key product strategy as Checkmarx maintains our intense focus on serving the constantly growing enterprise,” said Checkmarx CEO Sandeep Johri. “His proven history in DevSecOps, scaling both team and product development to meet industry needs, makes him a strong addition to our senior leadership team.”

Rende is recognized for his accomplishments while heading product development teams at Mercury Software, a leader in software testing that was acquired by HP Software for $4.5 billion. Following the acquisition, he grew the testing business from $700 million to over $1 billion via organic growth and security acquisitions. For the past eight years, Rende served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Products at PagerDuty, the leading enterprise cloud platform for AI operations. There he led the continued scaling of the product and design organization to deliver the next generation of PagerDuty’s platform and products, leveraging machine learning and AI organically as well as by acquisition.

Rende’s appointment comes at a time of robust growth for Checkmarx, which is yearly recognized as a leader and innovator by the most prominent industry analyst firms and earns high marks from customers on ratings and review platforms. The company recently announced a new generation in software supply chain security with its Secrets Detection and Repository Health solutions to minimize application risk as open source repositories are increasingly targeted by threat actors.
