The City of New Britain, Connecticut, has gone live with Google Workspace, marking a significant milestone in its journey towards modernizing internal systems and enhancing collaboration following a unanimous vote by the city council. With the help of DitoGoogle Cloud Premier Partner, the city completed a seamless migration of all the city’s departments from Microsoft Exchange 2016, delivering tangible benefits to city departments.

“Migrating the City’s technological systems over to Google Workspace was a critical step in modernizing our municipal processes and increasing efficiencies among City staff,” said Mayor Erin E. Stewart. “Using Google Workspace will help ensure all our City staff are best equipped to deliver the highest level of service possible to the residents of New Britain.”

Since Workspace is a comprehensive, cloud-based productivity platform, “it will make City Hall operations much smoother,” Alderman Robert Smedley noted during the council meeting. “There’s an immense amount of tools,” Smedley continued, covering communication, collaboration, and document management, which “makes sharing information so much easier.”

The City of New Britain recognized the value of Google Workspace in helping streamline their operations and improve how they work. As Acting Director of Support Services, Jon Delgadillo, explained, “it’s really going to provide a lot more options for our city personnel and move us to a different direction and help save money. Trying to be a fiscally responsible city, we felt that Google is the best option for the city to move forward,” Delgadillo added.
