CIO Influence Interview with Reg Singh, VP Education Services & Customer Success Initiatives at Oracle NetSuite

“MyLearn provides each user a personalized learning path and a customizable dashboard to monitor learning progress and explore recommended content from an extensive course catalogue.”

Please tell us a little bit about your role and responsibilities at NetSuite.

As a former CFO and Oracle NetSuite customer, I have a unique understanding of NetSuite and the user experience. When I joined NetSuite in 2014, I led our sales organization in Asia. After relocating to the United States, my role grew to focus on helping customers understand all NetSuite’s features and learn how to tailor the system for their unique business needs.

Since late 2020, I now lead our global Education Services team that develops educational tools to help customers develop skills, learn best practices, and identify new ways to leverage NetSuite to solve business challenges. Our continuously evolving content and educational experiences help users at all levels build NetSuite knowledge and skills.

What are your core offerings? Could you please tell us more about your customers, and how you educate them about your platforms?

NetSuite offers an integrated system that includes financials/Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), inventory management, HR, professional services automation, omnichannel commerce and more. NetSuite customers range in size from pre-revenue start-ups, large enterprises, and everything in between.

As you can imagine, customers’ learning and skills training needs can be quite diverse. NetSuite’s core educational offering, the Learning Cloud Support (LCS) or LCS Company Pass is a subscription-based training service that provides customers continuous education resources. The LCS Company Pass provides a variety of learning options and formats, including on-demand eLearning courses, hands on lab exercises, live interactive events, and access to Education Advisors that can develop personalized action plans. The content covers topics including NetSuite best practices and product updates, as well as strategies for business management. For businesses that need a more custom learning experience, NetSuite also provides tailored training with expert instructors.

We also recently launched LCS Explorer Pass, ano-cost learning offering. LCS Explorer Pass provides access to introductory content that helps build a foundational understanding of NetSuite and develop cloud skills. These resources help the NetSuite community learn how to advance their career and grow their businesses.

What message or advice do you have for CIOs looking to invest in cloud-based learning solutions for their organization?

Businesses must prioritize investing in the education of their workforce. Recent research has shown 89% of learning and development professionals believe that proactively building employee skills will help navigate the future of work.

Many businesses see technology training as a one-time, up-front investment. They fail to recognize the critical impact of ongoing learning in driving user adoption, optimization, and process improvement. However, cloud technology is constantly evolving, and continued education is important for driving user adoption, optimization, and process improvement.

For example, NetSuite is a robust, single cloud business system built to help customers run their businesses better. We regularly add new features and functionalities, and we want to ensure our customers are using NetSuite to its full capacity. By leveraging NetSuite across operations, customers can gain greater business visibility and control, improve efficiency, and bolster their bottom line.

The key to maximizing investments in cloud technology begins with an educated user base, so my recommendation is to not overlook the value of continued education and skills training.
