ISO 27001 is an internationally recognized specification for an ISMS, which focuses on the overall management of information security. To achieve certification, the applying company must undergo a series of audits where an auditor reviews policies, controls, documentation, procedures and more. Lone Star, specifically, is bound by 140 controls for its scope which are categorized into 14 control families: Information Security Policies; Organization of Information Security; Human Resources Security; Asset Management; Access Control; Cryptography; Physical and Environmental Security; Operational Security; Communications Security; System Acquisition, Development and Maintenance; Supplier Relationships; Information Security Incident Management; Information Security Aspects of Business Continuity Management; and Compliance.

Being ISO compliant ensures that all data being managed is safe from data breaches. In addition to guaranteeing that there’s a detailed, outlined and effective process for data management, certification also helps meet contractual security obligations, safeguard against network attacks and protect the certified company’s reputation.
