Ivanti Wavelink, the supply chain business unit of Ivanti, today announced the addition of LoRaWAN® network support into their Neurons for IIoT platform.
LoRaWAN integration into Ivanti Neurons for IIoT opens the door for our customers to a broad hardware ecosystem of devices including sensors and actuators to support various applications in supply chain. Customers that are in the industrial segment have been able to add devices communicating over IP networks such as Wi-Fi, Ethernet and cellular. With the addition of LoRaWAN, Neurons for IIoT can interoperate with a catalog of thousands of Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) devices that support the LoRaWAN standard.

LoRaWAN is the de facto industry standard for LPWAN devices in which Semtech’s LoRa® technology provides the integrated circuit (IC) communication layer. LoRaWAN is maintained by the LoRa Alliance® which boasts approximately 500 member companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Orange, and others including Ivanti who joined the LoRa Alliance in March 2022.
Devices connected using LoRaWAN and contain Semtech’s LoRa ICs can communicate over long distances (miles) where Bluetooth and Wi-Fi cannot reach. This makes them ideal for use cases for supply chain customers, especially those that need to operate in mixed indoor/outdoor use cases such as asset tracking and management, cold chain monitoring, fleet management, pallet tracking, ambient sensing, and many more. In addition, devices featuring LoRaWAN have a very low power consumption footprint compared to Wi-Fi and cellular. This means that devices can operate for many years resulting in very low OPEX by avoiding the need to frequently change/charge batteries.
“With the potential growth opportunity in industrial supply chain, our customers demand plug and play gateway to network connectivity to deploy and grow their network coverage without requiring technical expertise and cutting industrial IoT deployment time,” said Brandon Black, senior vice president and general manager, Ivanti Wavelink. “Integrating LoRaWAN to Neurons for IIoT makes it easy and affordable for smart supply chain and logistics to track highly valued assets that are in transit and shipping containers.”

“Ivanti Wavelink is capturing the value of Semtech’s LoRa devices and the LoRaWAN standard to improve the performance for customers in supply chain, logistics and distribution industries,” said Karthik Ranjan, LoRa Cloud™ solutions and partnerships leader, Wireless and Sensing Products Group, Semtech. “Via the native support for the LoRaWAN standard in its Neurons for IIoT platform, Ivanti Wavelink can now offer additional insights in tracking applications, failure prevention and viability of high value assets. The net benefit is improved efficiency and automation, increasing the value that system delivers.”
Ivanti Neurons for IIoT will support both private and public LoRaWAN networks. With private LoRaWAN networks, customers can deploy their own gateways in specific areas where they need coverage and connect them directly to Neurons for IIoT. Public networks, offered by many telecom providers globally, allows for assets to be tracked across huge distances.
Choosing the right network is one of the first considerations when deploying an IoT system. The key considerations include power consumption, range, ecosystem of devices, and proven interoperability. Ivanti Neurons for IIoT is pleased to offer customers flexibility and choice when it comes to network options to meet customers diverse requirements.
